Clinic Director and Owner – Gameday Men’s Health Westsprings (Calgary, Alberta)
Dr. Kyle Ricord, MD, is a Calgary-based physician specializing in family and emergency medicine. He serves as the Medical Director and Owner of Gameday Men’s Health Westsprings, where he focuses on hormone optimization and preventative men’s health strategies.
As an emergency room physician Dr. Ricord often sees the consequences of not taking care of oneself. His philosophy of care has always been to provide guidance and advise on preventative practices rather than focus solely on treating a disease or injury. Dr. Ricord does not believe that aging should be synonymous with deterioration, and he tries to promote a strategy of prevention in one’s own health, as opposed to waiting for sequelae of disease to develop.
Dr. Ricord’s interest in testosterone replacement therapy developed from seeing the detriment of inactivity and a sedentary lifestyle. He has seen too many patients simply state that they can’t exercise or lack the energy to do so, and he believes that TRT plays a vital role in addressing those reasons. Reinstituting vitality, energy, and an overall sense of wellness leads to patients wanting to take proactive steps in their own health, and Dr. Ricord believes TRT has the potential to do so.
Peptides are also a promising new treatment to address sleep, energy, and muscle or joint pain that can further prevent a person from being able to institute lifestyle modifications that would overall improve their health.
Dr. Ricord’s clinical focus has always been to decrease being reactive to the symptoms of disease, injury, or aging and instead be proactive in searching out opportunities to improve our minds and our bodies that patients may not have considered or been able to do yet.
Dr. Ricord began his academic journey at the University of Calgary, earning a Bachelor of Kinesiology with a major in Athletic Therapy in 2002. He returned to the University of Calgary to complete his Doctor of Medicine degree in 2016, followed by a Family Medicine residency in 2018. He also completed an additional residency training in Emergency Medicine in 2021.
Practicing in emergency departments across Alberta, Dr. Ricord witnessed firsthand the long-term consequences of improperly managed hormone therapy in patients presenting to the ER. This experience led him to pursue further training in endocrinology and develop a strong interest in hormone optimization and men’s health.
Dr. Ricord joined Gameday Men’s Health as the owner and practicing physician at the Westsprings location in Calgary after being approached by a longtime friend and now business partner. He is proud to be part of Gameday’s mission to raise the standard of men’s health care in Canada by offering innovative, patient-centered services rooted in science and compassion.
